The Devlin Connection (1982) “The Absolute Monarch of Ward C” S1E5

Bekkah:

Ummmmm. Ok well this was Jeff’s sixth IMDB credit and while he was such a baby, he was definitely the highlight of this episode as the wacky Monarch of Ward C. Ward C is in a mental institution and this episode came out in 1982. So yes, it is full of every stereotype you might imagine. Check the tags for the “oh no”s. Anyway, at least Jeff was a charming patient. There were murders. There were zillions of dollars at stake. There were not enough deep Vs. I really did not follow this story. Something about the pacing of theser 80s shows just does not work for my 2025 brain. But at least Jeff was the hero in the end!

Danya:

Sexual politics in the 80s was wild! Like people just sexually harassing this nurse, and she’s like blushing and also not doing her job well at all. I am so offended by this episode, both as a woman and as a psychologist. Jeff was an adorable quirky cherub who hangs out in the “sanitorium” because he’s so charming and enjoys it so much. He is a magic cherub with zero pores.
