Jurassic World: Rebirth (2025) Honorary Goldblums
Bekkah:
Is this a great movie? No. But is it fun? Yes. Would it have been better with our favorite Goldblum? Hell yes. Look, dinosaurs are awesome and I will continue to watch these movies as long as they make them and this was one of the only movies I saw in a theater this year. I think this new cast is better than the first JW cast (obs nothing can top Jeff, Laura, and Sam!!) and I hope they make more with our sexiest man alive 2025 and other sexy leading actors! (But no more D. rex, please, it looks so dumb.)
Danya:
Let’s be clear, the first Jurassic Park is an actually good movie. The characters, the dialogue, all of it just works. Even when I watched it on the big screen for my last birthday, wow does it hold up. I think the biggest reason is that the premise is at least slightly plausible from a human behavior standpoint. Like, I totally believe that if the technology existed there would be a Jurassic Park and also at least a few Jurassic Parkatstrophes. School shootings certainly haven’t taught us anything, so why would dinosaurs!? But even the ultimate human hubris and the darkest understanding of human nature is a stretch for this premise. Like, people aren’t paying a million dollars for a scarier genetic lion, so why would this be happening for dinosaurs? So really, my main complaint is that this movie about genetically modified dinosaurs left on an island to rampage IS NOT BELIEVABLE. Not the dinosaur part, the human behavior and choices. Anyway, Happy Bacon Day and here’s to a less terrible 2026.
